Student enrolled in this course will learn advance pattern making principles and techniques in the apparel industry. Testing patterns using muslin to confirm fit and proportion and refine drafts to develop pattern block will be performed. Design interpretation and testing will occur throughout the course with empahsis on men´s wear and formal waer for ladies apparel. Pattern grading principes and application are also included!

The course helps students to gain understanding on the fundamental concepts of footwear, garments and other leather goods as a product and their history. It introduces the understanding about leather footwear, garments and various leather goods that insights students to identify, analyze and manufacture of these products. 

After completion of the course, the students will be able to:

•        discuss the evolution of leather products  

•        identify the different types of footwear, leather goods, and garments and their uses

•        describe the different types of footwear, leather goods, and garments and their uses

•        explain the basic construction methods in footwear production

•        explain the different sizing systems and its purpose

•        explain size systems of leather garments  

•        know the leather product’s materials and accessories



In this course the students will focus on the development of manual flat sketches using fashion templates of various apparels for designing, spec sheets, storyboards, presentations, merchandising a line and portfolio development. Students will be introduced to the concept of sketching designs and actual garments in the flat format rather than on the fashion figure.

This course is designed to show students the place of apparel and accessories in the world of fashion merchandising. Students will create head dress, jewelries, bags, hats and other items that will complement a given design.
Students will gain the competence in draping that will enable them to build and create designs directly on the dummy or three-dimensional body forms for a specified target markets. Students acquire a sense of proportion, and a feel for texture and fabric drape ability while handling fabric in relation to the design and fit on the dress form. The principles of draping may be used to develop various types of fit to reflect fashion silhouettes and enhance garment style. Students will produce a garment with accompanying accessories
This course provides knowledge in embroidery techniques and creation of embroidery design.
